                              1979 Honda RC250-A1D   Marty Tripes

The claiming rule that sent the 1976 AMA 125 Nationals into a mini melt-down had been virtually forgotten until the 1979 season. Privateer John Roeder successfully claimed Marty Tripes' brand new 1979 RC250 works Honda at the opening round of the 1979 AMA 250 Nationals. The bike featured here is that bike and it is the only factory works bike to have been successfully claimed in AMA history. The bike itself, is in all original condition and a full feature will be coming this summer with details about the bike and a host of interviews from the involved parties including a story on how this single event, forever changed professional motocross in the US. Also a photo CD will be available featuring nearly 200 high quality digital photos, most of which will not be on this site.
