Yamaha
Motocross DVD 1971 1973 1977
1971 Grand-prix
of Japan. This film is probably the earliest footage of Yamaha's
works effort. A two day event in front of 70,000 people!!! You
will see the very first works YZ250's ridden by Torao and
Hideaki Suzuki. These were the prototypes to the YZ250A
model, the very DNA of Yamaha's motocross bikes. You will also
see the incredible 139lb. YZ125!!! no.15 ridden by Torao (thats
right 139 pounds). And works AT1's, works 90cc's and works
Suzuki's. Nearly every guy in this film has a works bike!! These
guys go real fast on a very picturesque track in northern Japan.
The bikes are super trick. The Cool Factor of this film is off
the charts. This is one of my favorite films.
1973 Yamaha's
GP effort in Europe. Hakan Andersson winning the world
championship (Yamaha's first) on the very first mono- shock. This
was the bike that started long travel suspension! Jaak Van
Velthoven, Christer Hammargren and also Ake Jonsson on the
infamous Yamaico in some very rare footage of the first USGP at
Carlsbad. Also Tarao Suzuki on the works 125 mono-shock in the
very first 125 world championship season, battling with Andre
Malherbe on the works Zundapp.
1977 Yamaha's
first 500cc world championship. Heikki Mikkola on the awesome
OW26..... Fantastic footage!! Interviews with Roger DeCoster,
Brad Lackey and Heikki Mikkola. Great footage of DeCoster on the
Suzuki and Lackey on the RC500. Great battle with DeCoster and
Mikkola at the Citadel in Namur Belgium!..This is what you call
BIG TIME MOTOCROSS!!!
